VTB has launched a full range of gold buying/selling services in Nizhny Novgorod.

      March 19, 2026 18:37 Economy VTB has launched a full range of services with physical gold bars in 23 branches across Russia, including in Nizhny Novgorod. Previously, the service was only available in Moscow and St. Petersburg. By the end of the year, the project's geography will expand to an additional 11 VTB offices.

      In Nizhny Novgorod, the service can be accessed at the VTB office located at: Kovalikhinskaya St., 14/43.

      Gold is traditionally considered a "safe" asset and helps reduce the risk of ruble devaluation. The high demand for the precious metal is explained by the rising price and the cancellation of VAT on purchases. The price of gold at the beginning of 2026 reached around $5000 per troy ounce. Last year's yield was +28%, and this year the growth has intensified — another +17%. Over the past ten years, the price of gold has increased by 313%.

      "In conditions where the price of gold is setting historical highs, we are observing corresponding changes in investor behavior. Gold is seen as one of the key support points. The launch of operations with bars is not just an expansion of the product line, but an alignment of investment opportunities for residents of different regions across the country," commented Alexey Okhorzin, Senior Vice President and Head of the Retail Business Products Department at VTB.

      In 2023, VTB launched a buyback service for gold bars for clients who purchased the precious metal at the bank and left it for safekeeping. In 2024, VTB began to buy back measured and standard bars stored outside the bank, including those purchased from other banks.
