Reservists "BARS-NN": "The experience gained during training helps in solving tasks at the main job."
March 19, 2026 18:00 Society Regional defenders of the first groups of the mobilization reserve "BARS-NN", who have completed special training and finished combat duty, have returned to their main jobs. A new shift has taken over the defense of important energy and industrial facilities in the Nizhny Novgorod region. During the training at the training ground and the protection of enterprises, the reservists not only provided additional protection for the region's infrastructure against UAVs but also enhanced their professional competencies.
The reservist with the call sign "Jambo" continued working in his organization as the deputy head of the management and communication systems development department. His professional activities are related to ensuring the comprehensive safety of the city's residents. He noted that "BARS-NN" helped him improve his management and communication skills, enhance interaction with colleagues, and handle tasks more effectively in civilian life.
"In 'BARS-NN' I was the commander of a fire group, where it was important to organize work as quickly as possible. After the special training, I continue to work in 'civilian life' on the development and modernization of video surveillance and public alert systems. The experience gained in the mobilization reserve helps with effective communication with employees and residents, solving many tasks at my main job. The work is responsible and important, but I am a reserve officer, and my duty is to defend the Motherland with arms in hand if necessary," said "Jambo."
A Nizhny Novgorod resident with the call sign "Lenin" started working two days after the training. He is a driver, engaged in cargo transportation.
"As part of the mobile fire group, I was a driver. Different situations occur on the roads and in everyday life, but when you have to quickly deploy to combat posts on alert, the responsibility is much higher – it is important to prevent drone attacks. My colleagues at my main job welcomed me with joy and said they were proud of me. And I am glad that I can help my enterprise and team," he shared.
Overall, the reservists noted that their time in the reserve enriched them with new knowledge and experience, which they have already applied in their main jobs.
It should be noted that service in "BARS-NN" does not involve deployment to the area of special military operations and takes place only in the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod region.
Recruitment into the reserve is conducted on a voluntary basis through military enlistment offices of municipal formations by signing a contract with the Ministry of Defense of Russia represented by the commander of the military unit. A feature of the contract is the possibility to combine primary civilian work with military training and drills.
Throughout the contract period, reservists are provided with monetary support, modern equipment, and uniforms. During military drills, participants retain their jobs and salaries, and they are provided with life and health insurance, medical assistance, and free meals.
In addition, by the decree of Governor Gleb Nikitin, additional support measures have been established for Nizhny Novgorod residents in the mobilization reserve "BARS-NN" and their family members. For children – free kindergarten, school meals, sports sections and extended day groups, subsidized vouchers to camps and sanatoriums in the Nizhny Novgorod region. There is a priority right to transfer a child to a school near home.
The entire family of the reservist is guaranteed priority free medical assistance under the Program of State Guarantees for Medical Assistance to the Population of the Nizhny Novgorod Region for the current year.
For consultation and to arrange the mentioned support measures, one can contact the social protection department, as well as educational and healthcare institutions at their place of residence depending on the type of support needed.
