      On March 19, 2026, at 17:20, Society: Almost 2 billion rubles will be allocated in 2026 in Nizhny Novgorod for the fulfillment of social obligations. The funds will go to support children, families, including families of participants in the Special Military Operation, as well as veterans. This was reported by Mayor Yuri Shalabaev on his social media.

      According to him, the issue of financing will be considered by the relevant commission, after which it will be brought up for discussion by the City Duma.

      As the mayor noted, the funds are planned to be directed towards several key areas. In particular, this includes providing children under three years old with proper nutrition from the Nizhny Novgorod milk kitchen, preparing municipal summer camps for the summer health campaign, and developing the network of the Center for Military-Patriotic Education.

      In addition, additional social assistance measures are planned, including the purchase of children's New Year gifts, as well as initiatives aimed at increasing veterans' involvement in the cultural and public life of the city. Funding will also affect the activities of the commission for juvenile affairs and the protection of their rights, including in terms of preventing neglect and offenses.

      The Department of Social Policy clarified that funding is provided within the framework of the municipal program "Targeted Support for Certain Categories of Citizens of Nizhny Novgorod."

      Among the priority areas of the program are providing additional social support measures to certain categories of families, organizing recreation and health improvement for children, conducting events for various population groups, ensuring proper nutrition for children under three years old, as well as measures to ensure the social security of families with children. Special attention is given to the development of the system of military-patriotic education for minors.

      Earlier, Yuri Shalabaev reported that as a result of budget optimization in 2025, Nizhny Novgorod received an additional 4.8 billion rubles.
