The death of a 13-year-old boy from Nizhny Novgorod in a roof collapse has caught the attention of Bastrykin.
March 7, 2026 12:53 Incidents The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, is awaiting a report on the investigation into the death of a 13-year-old teenager as a result of the roof collapse of a building in Nizhny Novgorod.
The tragedy occurred on March 6 on Stationnaya Street in the Sormovsky district. According to city authorities, the building was being prepared for demolition. The owner had removed all property from there, including windows. The building was not in use. The area where it is located is fenced off. Somehow, a group of teenagers gained access to the "abandoned" building. The roof collapsed right on them. As a result, one boy died on the spot, and two others were taken to the hospital.
The regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia has opened a criminal case under Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Causing death by negligence." The prosecutor's office is also looking into the incident.
The head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Bastrykin, instructed his Nizhny Novgorod colleague, Ayrat Akhmetshin, to report on the progress of the investigation and the established circumstances of the incident.
