The Nizhny Novgorod AIDS Center has been recognized as the best in Russia.

      December 3, 2025 19:19 Society The Nizhny Novgorod Regional Center for the Prevention and Control of AIDS and Infectious Diseases has won the main nomination of the All-Russian Professional Skills Competition among specialized medical institutions. As reported by the regional health ministry, the competition was held by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation to identify the most effective practices in the field of prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of HIV infection. The solemn award ceremony took place on December 3 as part of the XI All-Russian Forum of specialists working in the field of HIV prevention and therapy. The chief physician of the institution, Solomon Apoyan, received the honorary award from the hands of Inna Kulikova — the director of the Department of Emergency Medical Care Organization and Health Risk Management of the Ministry of Health of Russia. According to Solomon Apoyan, the recognition received is the result of the work not only of the center's team but also of support from the federal and regional health ministries. He expressed gratitude to the chief freelance specialist of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation for HIV infection, Alexey Mazus, and the chief specialist for HIV in the Volga Federal District, Rafael Yapparov, for their assistance in implementing solutions aimed at increasing the availability and technological advancement of HIV diagnostics in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The regional health ministry emphasized that over the past five years, the incidence of HIV in the Nizhny Novgorod region has decreased by one and a half times. At the same time, the coverage of the population tested for HIV has doubled. The region is among the subjects of the Russian Federation with the best dynamics in reducing the number of new infection cases. The center has also become the first institution in the country to implement drone delivery of medications and test tubes with biological materials. Additionally, in 2025, a robotic conveyor laboratory, unmatched in Russia, began operations here. The automation of routine processes has reduced the time for HIV analysis to 50 minutes. The regional health ministry reported that in the near future, the first robotic pharmacy in the country, designed for the automatic dispensing of medications to patients with HIV, is planned to be launched based on the institution.
