The annual inflation in the Nizhny Novgorod region decreased in October.

      December 3, 2025 18:49 Economy In October, a slowdown in annual inflation was recorded in the Volga Federal District and Nizhny Novgorod region, despite a slight increase in prices compared to September. According to the Bank of Russia, inflation in the Volga Federal District was 8.7%, while in the Nizhny Novgorod region it was 7.6%. This figure remains the lowest among the regions of the district and continues to be below the national average, which reached 7.7%. Against the backdrop of overall price growth in October, certain categories of products became more expensive, particularly fruits and vegetables. However, price reductions affected the service sector, especially foreign tourism. Experts note that these categories are traditionally subject to seasonal fluctuations, and therefore do not have a decisive impact on the overall inflation picture. Core inflation, which excludes goods and services with high volatility, also continued to decline both in the Volga region and in the Nizhny Novgorod region. In particular, computers became noticeably cheaper — both in monthly and annual comparisons. One of the key factors restraining price growth remains the high key rate set by the Central Bank. Under these conditions, the availability of loans decreases and the attractiveness of deposits increases, leading to a reduction in consumer demand. This, in turn, helps to slow down inflation. According to the Central Bank's forecasts, maintaining high interest rates for an extended period will allow inflation in the country to be reduced to 4-5% by 2026 and to keep it near the target level of 4% thereafter.
