The owner of a parcel pickup point in Perevoz stole 400,000 rubles from a marketplace.

      The Perevoz Interdistrict Court of the Nizhny Novgorod Region considered a criminal case of fraud related to an Ozon marketplace order pickup point, the court's press service reported.

      It was established that in the fall of 2025 the defendant, T., together with his wife, an individual entrepreneur, opened a pickup point and began cooperation with the trading platform by signing the corresponding electronic contract.

      In October T., using fake accounts in the Ozon app, as well as the accounts of his wife and an employee of the pickup point who were unaware of his intentions, ordered expensive electronics — laptops, smartphones, a robot vacuum cleaner and a drill-driver. He then processed returns of these goods in the system and took them from the pickup point. In this way the man stole property worth more than 400,000 rubles.

      At trial T. fully admitted his guilt but refused to give testimony, citing Article 51 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation.

      At the end of December the court found him guilty under Part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud on a large scale) and sentenced him to three years' imprisonment suspended with a two-year probationary period. The verdict has not yet entered into force.

      Earlier it was reported that a resident of Nizhny Novgorod had to prove in court that she is alive.
