Snowdrifts in Nizhny Novgorod could grow by another 11 cm in two days.

      Up to another 11 centimeters of snow may fall in Nizhny Novgorod over the next two days. This was reported by the city administration’s press service.

      According to representatives of the mayor’s office, contractor organizations continue round‑the‑clock clearing of streets of snow. Work is being carried out in an intensified mode to ensure traffic safety and accessibility of city areas.

      On January 12, snow‑clearing equipment and workers were deployed on Heroes Avenue and Lenin Avenue, as well as on Cosmonaut Komarov Street, Vaneev Street and Meshchersky Boulevard.

      Municipal services, ahead of the evening rush hour, have stepped up the pace of clearing the city’s main roads of snow. Snow removal operations are underway on key thoroughfares to ensure residents the most comfortable and safe conditions for returning home after the workday.

      Earlier it was reported that the volume of snow removed from Nizhny Novgorod’s territory has already exceeded 150,000 cubic meters.

      Recall that on January 6 the head of the city, Yury Shalabayev, convened an operational headquarters meeting in connection with the approaching snowfall. For snow removal, the Nizhny Novgorod authorities mobilized more than 1,300 pieces of equipment and about 3,500 road workers, including personnel from management companies and contractors.
