Eight people died in fires in the Nizhny Novgorod region during the holidays.

      Two fires caused by improper use of fireworks occurred during the New Year holidays in the territory of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. This was reported by the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

      As a result, 16 people, including eight children, were injured.

      A total of 128 fires have been recorded in the region since the beginning of 2026. EMERCOM personnel evacuated 154 people, including 24 children. Ten people were injured, including two children. In addition, 27 people were rescued, including four minors. Unfortunately, eight people died as a result of the fires.

      Earlier it was reported that in Dzerzhinsk a firework flew into an apartment window and sparked a fire.

      By the way, 75 traffic accidents with casualties were recorded in the region during the New Year holidays. Three people died as a result of the accidents.
