      A 59-year-old pensioner from Nizhny Novgorod became a victim of scammers. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Nizhny Novgorod.

      Over the course of two weeks the local resident corresponded in a messenger app allegedly with an employee of the management company. He told her that the intercom in the entrance would soon be replaced, and that new keys needed to be made.

      The interlocutor promised to make the keys for free if she provided the individual code from an SMS message. When the pensioner recited the digits, a pseudo-law-enforcement officer contacted her and warned that unknown persons had executed a power of attorney and were trying to steal her money. As a result she lost 785,000 rubles, which she deposited to an unidentified account through an ATM in the Nizhegorodsky district.

      A criminal case has been opened in this regard.
