Three outdoor ice rinks in Nizhny Novgorod are being temporarily closed. The reason for the closures is a sharp deterioration in weather conditions and heavy snowfall.

According to the Directorate of Parks and Squares, from January 8 the rinks in Avtozavodsky Park, as well as in Dubki Park and 1 May Park, will be closed.

Earlier, restrictions had already been imposed at these venues on the number of visitors allowed on the ice at one time, but due to intensified precipitation it was decided to completely stop skating.

No timeline has been announced for when the rinks will reopen.

Recall that, according to meteorologists' forecasts, up to 51 centimeters of snow may fall in the city over three days, which significantly exceeds the average January norm. The total volume of precipitation on the road surfaces will be about 6.4 million cubic meters.

To combat the effects of the snowfall, 1,345 units of specialized equipment and 3,542 road workers have been deployed in the city.
