In 2025, the Nizhny Novgorod Region held more than 350 events with BRICS, SCO and EAEU countries.
During 2025, 359 events involving representatives of BRICS, the SCO and the EAEU took place in the Nizhny Novgorod Region as part of comprehensive programs to develop cooperation. The events cover a wide range of areas: industry, agriculture, digital technologies, education, youth policy, culture, tourism, healthcare and the development of partnership links. This was reported by the Ministry of International and Interregional Relations of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
The largest number of events were held with representatives of the SCO — 241. There were 61 events with representatives of BRICS countries and 57 with participants from EAEU countries.
"Nizhny Novgorod Region has always been distinguished by a comprehensive approach in many spheres, and international cooperation is no exception. We are working on several fronts at once. In 2024 our region was a venue for a number of significant events as part of Russia's chairmanship in BRICS, including meetings of foreign ministers, meetings of ministers of environment and industry, as well as a forum of sister cities. This allowed us to strengthen ties not only with BRICS countries, but also with SCO and EAEU states. In 2025 we reached a new level of interaction, holding more than 350 events, and we plan to continue active work in 2026, focusing on deeper partnerships and joint projects," said Olga Guseva, Minister of International and Interregional Relations of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
In 2025 the region hosted many major international events, such as the 12th Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus, the 10th anniversary International Conference "CIPR", the Global Digital Forum 2025, the EKG Forum of Responsible Business "SO.ZNANIE", the 16th Brazilian Film Festival in Russia as part of the Days of Brazilian Culture in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, and many others. Representatives of BRICS, the SCO and the EAEU participated in these events.
Within the framework of the events, representatives of the region and foreign states were able to discuss opportunities to expand cooperation in industry, IT, the environment and many other areas.
In addition, in 2025 twenty-eight agreements were signed with foreign regions and municipalities, almost three times more than last year. New partners include regions from Argentina, Belarus, Brazil, Iran and China.
