Nizhny Novgorod residents can now verify their age using a digital ID in the Max messenger. The new service allows electronic documents to be used when purchasing goods available only to adults.
To use the feature, you need to open the "Profile" section in the app, then select "Digital ID" and press "Confirm age." After that a QR code is generated which can be shown to the seller. When scanned, the screen will display only whether the user is 18 or older. Personal data — such as first name, last name, or date of birth — are not disclosed to third parties.
Additionally, through the digital ID you can go to the "Gosuslugi" app and view document details. To do this, simply choose the required document, for example a passport, SNILS or OMS policy, and press "Show in Gosuslugi."
A digital ID can be created and used on only one device. Its use is voluntary, but it is treated as equivalent to paper documents.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the launch of the domestic messenger Max was an important step toward the country's full digital sovereignty. The creation of such solutions is part of the tasks of the national project "Data Economy and Digital Transformation of the State."
It was previously reported that Nizhny Novgorod residents can make appointments with doctors via a chatbot in the MAX messenger.
