An intensive effort continues in Nizhny Novgorod to combat the consequences of the unceasing snowfall that has struck the city.

According to the Department of Transport and Road Management, more than 7,000 cubic meters of snow have already been removed from the streets. Clearing operations continue without pause.

From 20:00 a second shift of workers joined the city's clearing efforts. Workers will work through the night to minimize the effects of the storm and ensure road access.

Note that all city services, contractors and management companies have been moved to an enhanced work regime.

Forecasts indicate that more than 50 centimeters of snow may fall in Nizhny Novgorod over three days — exceeding the average precipitation for the entire month of January.
