A 30-kilometer traffic jam paralyzed the M-7 highway in Kstovsky District.

      On the M-7 highway in the Kstovo District of the Nizhny Novgorod region, a massive traffic jam about 30 kilometers long formed on the evening of January 7.

      According to the Telegram channel "My Nizhny Novgorod", traffic is congested on the stretch from the turnoff to the village of Mikhaltchikovo to the settlement of Rabotki. In the opposite direction the jam starts at Rabotki and continues all the way to the entrance to Nizhny Novgorod.

      The cause of the transport collapse was road works coinciding with heavy snowfall. Witnesses also report a large number of trucks on the highway, as well as the presence of EMERCOM vehicles.

      Recall that the Nizhny Novgorod region has been hit by an anomalous snowfall. According to meteorologists' forecasts, up to 51 centimeters of snow may fall in the region over three days — this significantly exceeds the average monthly norm for January.

      Already 1,345 units of special machinery and more than 3,500 road workers have been deployed on the roads of Nizhny Novgorod. Specialists estimate that the total amount of precipitation during this period may reach 6.4 million cubic meters.
