An airgun shooting tournament was held in Nizhny Novgorod.

      On January 4 and 5, the traditional interregional airgun shooting tournament "Silhouettes of Christmas" (6+) was held in Nizhny Novgorod. The event took place at the Ataman shooting club, which organized the competition with the support of DOSAAF.

      More than 50 participants from seven regions of the country took part in the tournament. Men and women aged 10 to 65 competed. All of them fought for the title of Russia's best shooter.

      Participants had to hit 40 targets shaped like various animals. The task was complicated by the fact that the targets were placed at different distances depending on the weapon category. For rifles and pistols with open sights the distances ranged from 10 to 18 meters. Shooters with optical sights competed at distances from 18 to 41 meters.

      On the first day of the competition, at the short range, all the podium places were taken by competitors from Kostroma. Andrey Vorontsov was the winner in the rifle category, and Roman Nezvanov won the pistol competition.

      On the second day the main prize went to Moscow — it was won by Alexander Ryabkov. Athletes from Nizhny Novgorod managed to take second-place finishes: Maria Gamayumova excelled in pistol shooting, and Andrey Smely in rifle shooting.
