The Investigative Committee is investigating an attack by teenagers from Nizhny Novgorod on a tram driver.

      In Nizhny Novgorod, the Investigative Committee has launched a probe after an incident involving teenagers who attacked a tram driver, the agency's press service reported.

      Recall that the incident occurred on 5 January on tram route No. 5, which runs between Lyadov Square and Myza. Three teenagers — two 12-year-olds and one 17-year-old — clung to the outside of a festively decorated tram and rode on its exterior from one stop to another.

      When the tram driver and one of the passengers tried to stop the offenders, one of the younger teens produced a pepper spray canister and sprayed the gas directly into the driver's face. The man sustained a chemical burn to his eyes and was taken to hospital.

      The Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee for the Nizhny Novgorod Region has organized a procedural check. Investigators are now clarifying all the circumstances of what happened. After the check is completed, a legal assessment of the participants' actions will be given and an appropriate decision will be made.

      The police have already identified the teenagers. One of them has been handed over to a juvenile affairs officer. An administrative report was drawn up against the mother of the 12-year-old who used the canister for failure to properly fulfill parental responsibilities.

      Earlier it was reported that authorities in the Nizhny Novgorod Region are searching for a suspect in a case involving the theft of payments related to the SVO.
