A convenient pedestrian route in the center of Nizhny Novgorod that had previously been closed due to metro construction has become available again. The passage runs along the Rosatom building, connecting Varvarskaya and Osharskaya streets. This was reported on the Telegram channel "MetroNN".
Earlier this route was temporarily closed due to the active phase of construction works at the "Ploshchad Svobody" station, and pedestrians had to make a significant detour via Volodarsky Street. Now the gates at the construction site are open, and Nizhny Novgorod residents can freely use their usual route.
Recall that the tunnel boring machine "Vladimir" completed the laying of the second running tunnel between the future stations "Sennaya" and "Ploshchad Svobody". In the near future it will begin boring the next section — to the "Gorkovskaya" station.
It was previously reported that the "Sennaya" and "Ploshchad Svobody" stations are planned to be completed by 2027. An additional 12.4 billion rubles has been allocated in the city's budget for 2025 and 2026 to continue construction.
