A New Year's miracle you can make yourself

      New Year is a time of miracles and magic! It is also a time when the most cherished dreams come true. For example, the childhood dreams of participants in the "Yolka zhelaniy" (Wish Tree) charity campaign.

      Balls for the "Wish Tree" campaign were hung on the New Year tree at the central library. On December 16, the balls were taken down by heads of administrative departments as well as deputies of the Council of Deputies of the Uren District. The first ball was removed from the tree by the first deputy head of the administration, S.A. Smirnov.

      “On the eve of the New Year holidays, for many years we have been running a campaign called the ‘Wish Tree.’ Its participants are 30 children who became winners and prize-winners of Olympiads, contests and competitions at zonal and regional levels in the fields of education, culture and sports. We sincerely pride ourselves on the achievements of our Uren children and are sure that, thanks to their accomplishments, they deserve New Year gifts like no one else. The children wrote their dreams and wishes on the New Year balls. The wishes will be fulfilled by heads of departments and administrations and deputies of the Uren District. The children will receive their gifts on December 26.”

      And that wonderful day has come! In the beautifully and festively decorated conference hall of the central library, children, their parents, and benefactors who were ready to make the children’s dreams come true gathered. First Deputy Head of the Administration S.A. Smirnov greeted everyone present.

      Addressing the children who took part in the “Wish Tree” campaign, he thanked them for their achievements in study, sport and culture and wished them further success:

      “Dear children! You are our pride! Keep it up and don’t stop at what you’ve achieved! May this campaign be an encouragement for you and a stimulus for other children to study well, play sports and take part in creative life.”

      Sergey Alexandrovich also congratulated everyone present on the upcoming New Year and wished them health, well-being, peace and kindness.

      The hosts of the festive event, Ded Moroz and Snegurochka, announced the start of the gift-giving ceremony:

      “It’s wonderful that at the threshold of the New Year we strive to do good deeds! It makes us and the world around us better!”

      The children went up on stage and received gifts from the hands of the donors. For example, Deputy Head of Administration S.K. Gruzdev fulfilled the dream of Yulia Savina, a 7th-grade student of Uren Secondary School No. 2, and gave her a Yandex smart speaker. Yulia is a winner of the All-Russian competition “Bolshaya Peremena” among students in grades 5–7 and also took 1st place in the open swimming championship “Spring Starts–2025.”

      Alexander Chetverikov, an 8th-grade student of Uren Secondary School No. 1, received his gift from the Head of the Education Department I.I. Spirina. Sasha is interested in robotics and represented the Nizhny Novgorod region in the “Robotics multi-discipline competition – 2025.” He is also a very good basketball player and was recognized as a valuable player in the KES-Basket basketball championship.

      From the Chairman of the Council of Deputies V.P. Solovyov, 5th-grade student Anastasia Nazarova of Aryovskaya Secondary School received her gift — ice skates. Nastya is a creative person, practices dance and vocals, and as part of the “Ekstra” ensemble has repeatedly become a diploma winner and laureate at choreographic festivals of various levels.

      Deputy I.N. Pimanova gave her gift to Anastasia Kuznetsova, a student of Uren Secondary School No. 2, who also studies successfully at the Uren Children’s Art School. Nastya is a participant and winner of various young artists’ competitions.

      The children enjoyed the celebration and the gifts. Their shining eyes are the best thanks to those who made them happy. The donors were happy too, because for a moment they were able to become true kind magicians who fulfilled children’s dreams. The pre-New Year atmosphere of the “Wish Tree” campaign gave everyone bright emotions and filled them with anticipation of magic.

      BACKGROUND

      The All-Russian campaign “Yolka zhelaniy” has been running since 2018. Anyone who wishes can go to the project’s website, choose a child’s profile and fulfill their cherished dream. The campaign provides for three types of wishes — material, non-material, and surprise-gift. Material wishes include educational materials and books, hobby goods, musical instruments, sports equipment and gear, children’s and developmental toys, clothing and costumes. Non-material wishes mean the opportunity for a child to try a profession (for example, if they want to become a train driver); to go on a trip; to meet a famous person, for example, a cosmonaut. The campaign also accepts applications for surprise gifts, where the donor chooses a gift for the dreamer based on their preferences, interests and hobbies.
