      From January 1, a number of laws came into force. They will affect the lives of both residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region and other regions of the country. What will change was reported by Vyacheslav Volodin.

      Increase in the minimum wage (MROT) and the subsistence minimum. The MROT will rise by more than 20% to 27,093 rubles per month. This will contribute to wage increases for 4.5 million people. The subsistence minimum will also be increased. As a result, a number of social benefits will grow.

      Indexation of pensions. From January 1, 2026, insurance pensions for old age, disability and survivors will be indexed by 7.6%.

      Assistance to large families. Restrictions on including periods of childcare up to one and a half years in the pensionable service for parents of large families are being removed, and tax benefits are being expanded. Mothers awarded the "Mother-Heroine" title will receive social guarantees on a par with Heroes of Russia and Heroes of Labour. They will also be provided with additional financial support (415% of the size of the social pension).

      New payment for working parents of two or more children. Each working parent (adopter, guardian, custodian) with two or more children, under certain conditions, may be entitled to a benefit equal to the difference between the personal income tax (NDFL) paid at the rate of 13% and what the person would have paid if the tax rate were 6%.

      Exemption from personal income tax (NDFL) on corporate payments at the birth of children. The tax-exempt NDFL amount of payments to employees per child is being increased from 50,000 to 1 million rubles. This concerns support that employers can provide to employees during the first year after the birth, adoption of a child, or establishment of guardianship over them.

      Support for participants in the special military operation (SMO). SMO participants and their family members will be able to apply for loan holidays until December 31, 2026. In addition, they are to receive benefits on transport and land taxes. Earlier, on December 26, norms came into effect granting SMO participants the right to free a second secondary vocational education, and extending benefits for their adult children after finishing school until September 1.
