Police detained a repeat offender for a series of thefts in the Lukoyanovsky District.

      In the settlement named after Stepan Razin, located in the Lukoyanovsky district of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, several thefts occurred in early December. The victims were the owners of two retail outlets and an employee of the local post office, the Nizhny Novgorod Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

      According to the complainants, money and goods were stolen from the premises. The total damage from the crimes exceeded 250,000 rubles.

      After the reports were received, an investigative-operational team was dispatched to the scenes. Police were able to establish that all three crimes were committed by the same person.

      As a result of operational-search measures, the police detained a suspect. He turned out to be a 32-year-old resident of the city of Pervomaysk, who had a prior criminal record. During questioning the man fully admitted his guilt.

      For the duration of the preliminary investigation, the suspect was placed under a written undertaking not to leave and an obligation to behave properly.

      Earlier in Nizhny Novgorod a female serial bus thief was caught, and a man suspected of a series of thefts from Nizhny Novgorod shopping centers was also detained.
