In 2027 it is planned to include the vaccine against the human papillomavirus (HPV) in Russia's national immunization schedule. This was reported to TASS by the head of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection, deputy Sergey Leonov, who noted that the relevant legislative acts must be adopted in 2026 to implement this initiative.
The parliamentarian emphasized the importance of accounting for budgetary expenditures for the vaccine rollout and said that the state will need to allocate the necessary financial resources.
Obstetrician-gynecologist Maria Milyutina told 360.ru that free HPV vaccination will significantly reduce the incidence of cervical cancer among young women in Russia. She explained that vaccination is aimed at preventing the spread of the infection and speeding up the body's elimination of the virus.
The doctor expressed support for including HPV vaccination in the national immunization schedule, citing the positive experience of foreign countries where similar measures have already led to a significant reduction in cervical cancer rates.
Recall that in October the country's first HPV vaccine production facility opened in Kirov Oblast. The enterprise was established by the biopharmaceutical company Nanolek with the support of the federal Fund for Industrial Development.
