Almost 4 million rubles were returned to residents of the Nizhny Novgorod Region by utility companies after the intervention of the regional State Housing Inspectorate (GHI). This was reported by the agency’s press service.

According to the inspectorate, the largest number of appeals are related to errors in the calculation of charges for housing and communal services. Over the year, GHI specialists reviewed 4,390 complaints submitted by residents of the region.

One example was a case in Kstovo, where a local resident appealed to the inspectorate with a complaint about the refusal to recalculate the fee for the removal of solid municipal waste (SMW/TKO). He said that during a period of temporary absence from the apartment he provided all the necessary documents confirming his absence, but the regional operator refused to take this into account when calculating the fee.

Employees of the billing control department conducted a documentary inspection and found that the refusal to recalculate was unfounded and violated the provisions of current legislation.

“As a result of the inspection, the regional operator was issued an order to eliminate the violation. The recalculation amount was 1,536 rubles 42 kopecks. At present, the order has been fully complied with,” said Alena Novikova, head of the relevant department of the State Housing Inspectorate of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

The agency also reminded residents of the region that they can file a complaint about the actions of management companies and resource-supplying organizations through the mobile application “Gosuslugi. Dom” (“Public Services. Home”). It is also possible to apply in person if you have an identity document.

In addition, the GHI hotline continues to operate at: 8 (831) 430-79-19. Specialists provide consultations and accept appeals on billing issues, service quality and violations in the housing and utilities sector.

Earlier it was reported that residents of the building on Rodionova Street in Nizhny Novgorod overpaid about 2.5 million rubles for heating.
