      Nizhny Novgorod Mayor Yuri Shalabaev spoke about the possible merger of Bor with the regional center at a meeting with members of the press on December 30, NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" reports.

      The mayor noted that he views the experience of merging with the Kstovo District positively. For Nizhny Novgorod it opened up additional opportunities for territorial development, and Kstovo gained access to participation in regional and federal programs. In particular, under one such program next year six public spaces are planned to be improved within the urban district, three of which are located in the Kstovo District.

      "If there is an initiative — we will consider it. The experience of Kstovo District has shown that this is a viable and beneficial arrangement for all municipalities. This is how an agglomeration is formed," the mayor emphasized.

      Recall that in an interview with NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" the former head of Kstovo District and current chairman of the government of the DPR, Andrey Chertkov, suggested that Bor and Bogorodsk are next in line to merge with the Volga capital.

      It was also reported that Shalabaev kept Ivan Ulanov as head of Kstovo District.
