A new building for School No. 1 will be built in Sosnovsky.

      Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Andrey Checherin visited educational institutions in the workers' settlement of Sosnovskoye to personally inspect their condition. During the trip he visited two schools — Secondary School No. 1 and Secondary School No. 2.

      Joining Checherin in inspecting the facilities were the region's Minister of Education and Science, Mikhail Puchkov, and the head of the Sosnovsky municipal district, Anatoly Zimin.

      The delegation paid particular attention to Secondary School No. 1, where more than 540 students are enrolled. The institution stands out for its strong results in the military‑patriotic game "Zarnitsa 2.0" and the All‑Russian Olympiad in the subject "Basics of Safety and Defense of the Fatherland." Since 2021 the school's team has consistently taken first place in the regional stage "Zarnitsa of the Volga Region," and this year it also won at the national level.

      However, despite the students' achievements, the school building requires major repairs. As Andrey Checherin noted, the institution's material and technical base needs updating, and both buildings — the brick and the wooden — are heavily worn.

      "Sosnovskaya School No. 1 will undergo a major overhaul. The brick building, which was previously damaged by a fire, will be restored. Instead of the wooden building we will construct a new, more spacious facility that meets modern standards of safety and quality. This will create comfortable conditions for both students and teachers," said the deputy governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      At the second school, which resumed operations this autumn, officials inspected the results of the major overhaul. Work was carried out in 2024–2025, with over 118 million rubles allocated from federal, regional and local budgets. An additional approximately 12 million rubles were directed toward equipping the school with modern equipment.

      School principal Alla Zimina expressed gratitude to the parents who actively participated in preparing the institution for the new school year.

      The repair and construction work on educational facilities is being carried out within the framework of the national project "Youth and Children," implemented at the behest of the President of Russia. The project covers nine federal programs, including "Leading Schools," "Teachers and Mentors," "Professionalism," "All the Best for Children" and others aimed at developing the educational environment and supporting youth.

      Earlier it was reported that a new 600‑place school opened in the city of Pavlovo in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
