A forecast for January 2026 in the Nizhny Novgorod Region has been published.

      In January 2026 no weather surprises are expected in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This was reported by the regional EMERCOM department citing the forecast of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center.

      The average air temperature during the month will be from -7 to -11 °C, which is close to the climatic norm. In the western part of the region it will be slightly warmer — about one degree above usual.

      Precipitation amounts will also remain within normal limits. The northern part of the region is expected to receive slightly more precipitation than average, while the southern part will be roughly at the long-term average. The norm for January is considered to be 35–50 mm of precipitation.

      Recall that on December 31 the region will be cloudy, but with clear spells. Light snow is expected. Rime and icy patches are possible in the northeast. Wind will blow from the east at 3–8 meters per second.

      At night temperatures will drop to -6 to -11 °C, and with clearings may fall to -14 °C. During the day on December 31 it will be -5 to -10 °C.

      Earlier it was reported that a geomagnetic storm will arrive in Nizhny Novgorod on December 31.
