The expert review approved the construction project for the Yarmarochnaya Mosque in Nizhny Novgorod.

      The construction project of the Yarmarochnaya Mosque in Nizhny Novgorod underwent a non-governmental review. A positive conclusion was issued on December 29, according to the EGRZ.

      The client for the construction is the Centralized Religious Organization "Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation." The project documentation was prepared by sole proprietor Areg Darbinyan. The examination was conducted by the Moscow company Prommash Test Expertise LLC.

      It was earlier reported that the mosque will be located on Marata Street in the Kanavinsky District. The religious complex will occupy an area of 2,055 sq. m, and the total area of the buildings will be 3,212 sq. m. The project includes not only a prayer hall designed for 300 people, but also a pilgrimage center, a modular boiler house 16 meters high, as well as landscaped and planted grounds. The project will be financed exclusively through charitable donations. The use of budget funds is not planned.

      In the summer of 2023 a groundbreaking ceremony took place. At that time it was reported that the construction of the religious building could take four years.

      It should be added that from 1817 to 1930 the Yarmarochnaya Mosque was located on Magometanskaya Square on the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod Fair. During the Soviet period the building was demolished. Today's project aims to restore the lost structure while preserving the architectural proportions and stylistic features of the original.

      Earlier it was reported that the main Catholic church is planned to be revived in Nizhny Novgorod.
