Rostrud has opened an investigation into the death of a man in a fire on a floating crane in Bor.

      The Nizhny Novgorod Region State Labor Inspectorate has opened an investigation into a fatal accident that occurred on a floating crane of LLC "Ekoflot" in the Sibirsky Zaton area, the agency reported.

      The incident occurred on 23 December 2025. As a result of a fire on the vessel, a 45-year-old company employee died. According to preliminary information, the man was inside the floating crane at the time the fire broke out. The fire affected an area of about 100 square meters.

      Earlier the inspectorate launched a check to determine whether the fire could have been related to work activities. It is now conducting an investigation because the employer did not report the accident within the time limits established by law. This is a violation of Article 228.1 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation.

      According to the chief state labor inspector in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Ilya Moshes, the investigation is being carried out in accordance with labor legislation. The aim is to establish all the circumstances and causes of the tragedy.

      Earlier it was reported that an investigation had begun into the death at a workplace of a guard at the SPK collective farm named after Kuibyshev (Gorodetsky District).
