Taxi fares have doubled in Nizhny Novgorod.

      26 December 2025 09:54 Society Residents of Nizhny Novgorod complained about a sharp rise in taxi prices after heavy snowfall. Data from the Yandex Taxi service show that the cost of rides in the city roughly doubled. Difficulties with movement are observed on a number of key streets: Gagarin Avenue, the Oksky Descent, Rodionova and Ilyinskaya streets, as well as on the Myzinsky Bridge heading toward the Leninsky District and in the Shcherbinki area. Due to the weather conditions, traffic in these locations is hampered. Prices for a 30-minute ride topped 900 rubles in the city center. You now have to pay on average just over 100 rubles per kilometer. Despite the traffic jams, the average taxi waiting time remains unchanged — about 3–5 minutes. Taxi prices usually rise slightly on Fridays, but this time the situation worsened: it’s the end of the year and many people have corporate parties.
