Construction of the sports and fitness complex in Sormovo has been halted again.

      25 December 2025 15:16 Sports Construction of a sports and wellness complex on Korablestroiteley Avenue in the Sormovsky district of Nizhny Novgorod was halted at the initiative of the concessionaire. This was reported to NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" by the regional Ministry of Sports.

      Recall that the project is being implemented under a concession agreement between the regional authorities and LLC "First Nizhny Novgorod Sports Infrastructure." Construction of the complex began in October 2024, but was already suspended in November.

      Work resumed in April 2025. At that time it was also reported that completion was scheduled for late 2025 — early 2026. However, as of 1 December 2025 the facility was only 24.5% complete. From May to December the volume of work performed increased by only 4.5%, indicating extremely slow construction progress.

      The Ministry of Sports repeatedly sent requests to the concessionaire for an up-to-date construction schedule and supporting documents on the volume of work performed. But they went unanswered. The agency is now pursuing claims.

      "According to the concession agreement, in order to fulfill its obligations to create the facility the concessionaire has the right to engage other parties without the consent of the concedent (in this case — the government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region). At the same time the concessionaire is liable for the actions of the engaged parties as for its own," the Nizhny Novgorod Ministry of Sports noted, adding that it has no information about the existence of lawsuits between subcontractors.

      It should be added that construction of a sports and wellness complex on Rodionova Street in Nizhny Novgorod began in October.
