Rental outlets for newborn items have begun operating in Vyksa and Sarov.

      Rental points for essential items for newborns opened in Vyksa and Sarov. To equip them, cribs, strollers, high chairs, car seats, infant carrycots and other items that are in demand in the first months and years of a child’s life were purchased.

      The rental of items for newborns is one of five support measures of the so‑called “demographic menu” of the Russian Ministry of Labour provided to the region. The operation of such points is organized within the framework of the national project “Family.” A total of 21 such spaces were opened in the Nizhny Novgorod region in 2025.

      In Vyksa, the rental point opened on December 16 at the Comprehensive Center for Social Services for the Population in the Gogol microdistrict, 48a. Almost 370 items were purchased for it.

      According to Marina Potapova, director of the Comprehensive Center for Social Services for the Population, 15 contracts were concluded with families on the opening day, and 42 items for children were issued for use. On the first day, strollers, high chairs, car seats and infant carrycots were the most in demand. Emphasis was placed on high product quality when purchasing, and families have already given many positive reviews, Potapova emphasized.

      In Sarov, the rental point opened on December 25. It operates on the basis of the Center for Social Services for Elderly Citizens and People with Disabilities at 11 Shvernika Street. Some 230 different children’s products were purchased for this point.

      The rental services are available to Russian citizens who have a place of residence or stay in the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod region and are raising children up to three years of age. At the same time, the family must belong to one of the following categories: large families, single mothers, student families, families with children with disabilities, low‑income families, young families where the parents are no older than 35, as well as families of participants in the Special Military Operation (SVO). When applying to the rental point, it is necessary to provide documents confirming the right to receive the service.

      The regional Ministry of Social Policy noted that families not only from the municipalities where the rental points are located, but also from other settlements in the region can use their services. The rental period for items is determined depending on their purpose. Since the beginning of the year, about a thousand families in the region have already used the rental services.

      The national project “Family” has been implemented since 2025 on the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. The new national project is a continuation of the previously active “Demography” and “Culture” projects and is aimed at comprehensive support for families, expanding social assistance measures, creating conditions for active longevity of the older generation, as well as ensuring accessible and high‑quality medical care.

      It is worth recalling that in December similar points started operating in the Kstovsky District and Dzerzhinsk.
