      In the Nizhny Novgorod Region, as of December 25, 20 general education schools and 4 preschool institutions have been closed for quarantine due to a deterioration in the epidemiological situation. This was reported by the regional office of Rospotrebnadzor.

      According to the agency, over the past week more than 27,000 residents of the region sought medical help with symptoms of acute respiratory infections.

      Laboratory test results showed that in 80% of cases the influenza A(H3N2) virus was detected in the patients, which is currently actively circulating across the whole of Russia.

      In addition, a single case of infection with influenza B has been registered.

      Earlier it was reported that nearly 23,000 residents of Nizhny Novgorod had contracted acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) over the week. It was also reported that in 2025 residents of the Nizhny Novgorod Region purchased 1.5 million packs of antiviral medications.
