Employees of the transport police in Nizhny Novgorod had their housing rights restored after intervention by the Privolzhsky Transport Prosecutor's Office.
The investigation was initiated in response to appeals from current and former employees of the internal affairs bodies, including pensioners. It concerned violations in the registration for receiving a one-time social payment for the purchase or construction of housing.
It turned out that in 2012–2013 the housing and living conditions commission of the internal affairs body for transport committed violations: registration was recorded not from the moment the application was submitted, as required, but from the date the commission's decision was approved. This led to delays in receiving payments and infringed on the rights of employees.
In connection with this, the prosecutor's office filed lawsuits in court demanding that the police officers' right to receive payments be recognized from the moment they submitted their applications.
The Kanavinsky District Court of Nizhny Novgorod granted the supervisory authority's demands. As a result of the court's decision and the prosecutor's intervention, former transport police employees were paid more than 30.2 million rubles.
Earlier it was reported that the Nizhny Novgorod prosecutor's office had filed a lawsuit to seize illegal garages at the tram depot.
