Hydrometcenter: warmer weather will arrive in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast at the end of December.

      At the end of December, temperatures are expected to rise in the Nizhny Novgorod region, making the weather warmer than the climatic norm. According to the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, through December 30 the average daily air temperature will range from −6°C to −8°C. This is 1–2 degrees higher than the usual figures for this time of year.

      According to long-term observations carried out from 1991 to 2020, during this period temperatures in the region typically range from −7°C to −10°C. However, December frosts in 2025 will be less severe than usual.

      Nevertheless, a short-lived cold spell has already affected Nizhny Novgorod. According to the Yandex Weather service, frosts down to −20°C are expected in the city today, and on the night into Wednesday the temperature may fall to −22°C.

      The situation will begin to change closer to the end of the week. Already on Friday, December 26, warming to −2°C and snowfall are forecast in the regional center.

      Earlier it was reported that Nizhny Novgorod residents were expecting frosts this week.
