FSB foiled a sick-leave fraud scheme in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      An employee of the Pervomayskaya Central District Hospital has been named as a suspect in a criminal case concerning unlawful interference with the Russian Federation's critical information infrastructure. Details were reported by the press service of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      In December 2025, a technician-programmer at the central district hospital, motivated by personal gain, entered false information into the Unified State Information System in the field of healthcare about the opening of an electronic sick-leave certificate for a local resident. The person was healthy and had not sought medical care. It was established that the IT specialist used the account and electronic signature of one of the hospital's doctors.

      The employee's illegal activities were stopped by officers of the FSB Directorate for the Nizhny Novgorod Region. Investigators of the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under Part 4 of Article 274.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

      The suspect has been remanded in custody. Law enforcement officers are determining the circumstances of the incident and collecting evidence.

      Earlier, officers of the Nizhny Novgorod FSB directorate had halted the production of counterfeit vaccination certificates.
