On December 3 the State Duma at a plenary session approved in two readings a bill that gives participants in the special military operation the opportunity to obtain secondary vocational education again in their chosen specialty or another profession free of charge. This was reported by the chairman of the lower house of parliament, Vyacheslav Volodin, 360.ru reports.
Volodin stressed that the issue of retraining and employment of servicemen after the end of their service is one of the key ones.
"On our part we must create all conditions for this," he said.
Volodin also recalled that since the start of the special military operation the State Duma has adopted 148 legislative acts aimed at supporting participants in the SMO and their families.
The accompanying materials to the bill state that among servicemen there is a significant number of skilled manual workers who, upon returning, need to find new jobs or retrain.
Earlier, the State Duma proposed to prohibit dismissing SMO fighters from their civilian jobs. The bill concerns citizens who were mobilized, signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense, or became volunteers and, after service, returned to their previous place of work.
