      On the grounds of Nizhny Novgorod’s Lokomotiv athletics stadium in the last days of November, events of the "Sport for All" project took place, bringing together hundreds of teenagers from various municipalities of the region. The project is aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and giving up bad habits. The event was held within the framework of the state program "Comprehensive measures to counter drug abuse and its illegal trafficking in the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod Region", approved by the regional government decree of May 22, 2015, No. 320. Organizing such competitions also corresponds to the goals and objectives of the state program "Sport of Russia".

      During the competitions, teams of ten people aged 14 to 17 took part in a relay with elements of the standards of the All‑Russian physical culture and sports complex "Ready for Labor and Defense" (GTO), and were also able to test their skills directly in performing the GTO standards.

      "Such events are not just an opportunity to demonstrate sports skills, strength and agility. This is an important step toward forming stable healthy habits and abandoning harmful addictions. The GTO standards are both physical training and an element of patriotic education, as well as the most accessible way to start regular sports practice. I thank the kids for their activity and wish them new sporting victories!" — emphasized the Minister of Sport of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Dmitry Kabaylo.

      On November 26, 170 young athletes from 17 municipalities of the northern districts of the Nizhny Novgorod Region took to the starting line. As a result, first place went to the team from the Bogorodsky Municipal District, second place was taken by the team from the Sokolsky Urban District, and third place by the team from the Koverninsky Municipal District.

      On November 27, the relay was taken up by 190 teenagers from 19 municipalities of the southern districts of the region. The strongest by the results of the competition was named the team from the city of Arzamas, the "silver" went to the team from Navashinsky Municipal District, and the "bronze" to the team from Sergachsky Municipal District.

      The teams that won received cups, medals and certificates, as well as the "Olympic Alphabet" from the Russian Olympic Committee within the framework of the project "Great Country — Sporting Country". The publication contains information about Olympic sports, about outstanding athletes, about the historical development of the Olympic movement and its fundamental values, as well as original illustrations of Olympic sports.

      As reported earlier, the state program "Sport of Russia" is aimed at creating and improving conditions for physical activity, popularizing mass sports and improving the quality of life and satisfaction of Russians. Within the program it is planned to expand sports infrastructure, hold sports and mass events, and encourage residents to participate in fulfilling the standards of the All‑Russian physical culture and sports complex "Ready for Labor and Defense" (GTO). Child sports development will also continue across the country, and opportunities for sports activities for veterans of the special military operation will be expanded.
