A woman from Nizhny Novgorod was sentenced to eight years in a penal colony for attempting to kill her own mother.
02 December 2025 19:26 Incidents A resident of Bor has been found guilty of attempted murder of her mother, the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee for the Nizhny Novgorod Region reported.
In November 2024, while in her apartment, the woman beat her elderly mother, then plunged a knife into her chest and fled.
The victim was taken to hospital; doctors managed to save her. Soon the suspect was detained and placed in a pre-trial detention center (SIZO).
And recently the trial took place. The guilt of the Bor resident was proven. She was sentenced to 8 years in a general-regime penal colony with an additional one-year restriction of liberty.
Earlier it was reported that over the past year the number of murders in the Nizhny Novgorod Region increased by 7%.
