The number of murders increased by 7% in the Nizhny Novgorod Region in 2025.

Since the beginning of 2025, the Nizhny Novgorod Region has recorded a 7% increase in the number of murders. A total of 152 such crimes were committed from January through October, according to statistics from the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region.
The total number of crimes decreased by 1.6% and amounts to 28,091 cases.
A particularly notable decrease occurred in the category of crimes against the person. Their number fell by almost 10% — to 2,926.
The number of rapes decreased by 31.3% compared to the previous year — from 67 to 46.
The number of cases of grievous bodily harm also fell by 17.2% — from 239 to 198; cases of moderate bodily harm decreased by 22.8% to 261; minor bodily harm decreased by 9.9% to 411; and cases of battery fell by 50.9%.
Earlier it was reported that in Sharanga, Nizhny Novgorod Region, the murder of a man who had been considered missing was solved.
