Rospotrebnadzor said that information about the emergence and spread of a "new atypical virus" in Russia, including the Nizhny Novgorod region, is not true.
As the agency explained, the epidemiological situation is under constant control. At the moment, no new pathogens uncharacteristic for the current season have been detected.
Experts note that the country is experiencing the expected seasonal rise in cases of acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) and influenza. Cases are predominantly of influenza A(H3N2), typical for the winter season.
Rospotrebnadzor recommends that citizens get vaccinated to reduce the risk of complications and severe illness.
