      Scammers creating fake websites to sell tickets for New Year’s trees, plays and holiday performances have become active online ahead of the New Year holidays. This was warned by experts from Obyasnyaem.rf together with the Russian Cyber Police.

      Fraudsters launch clone sites of popular ticket platforms, place recognizable logos, fake reviews and flashy calls to action: "Hurry to buy a ticket!", "Best seats!", "Lowest price!".

      Links to such resources are spread via social media and messaging apps. After payment, the user either receives an invalid QR code or receives nothing.

      How to spot a fake website:

      – it contains nothing but an offer to buy tickets;

      – legal information, taxpayer identification number (INN), contacts, terms of offer and privacy policy are missing;

      – only contact forms or email addresses on free services are listed;

      – payment is made by transfer to an individual’s card or to a third-party organization;

      – there is no date of last update or signs of authorship.

      Important to remember: even if a site appears first in search results, that does not guarantee its reliability.

      How not to fall victim to scammers:

      – buy tickets only on trusted sites with a secure connection (the address bar should show https and a padlock icon);

      – check the site’s creation date — fraudulent sites tend to have short lifespans;

      – use free checking services: for example, Yandex Site Status Check or Google Safe Browsing.

      Earlier it was reported that tickets for the ballet "The Nutcracker" (0+) in Nizhny Novgorod cost from 800 to 8,000 rubles.
