Yuri Shalabaev, head of Nizhny Novgorod, presented to Sergei Kiriyenko, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Russia, the renovated public square in Sukhumi, the capital of the Republic of Abkhazia. The mayor reported this on his Telegram channel.
The site was named "Nizhny Novgorod Square" and became a new public space for residents of the district, where about 40,000 people live. The landscaped area includes children's playgrounds, an amphitheater, green zones, small architectural features, as well as a light-dynamic fountain that performs the melody "Sormovskaya Lyricheskaya."
In addition, one of Sukhumi's embankments was decorated with architectural and artistic lighting inspired by the appearance of Nizhny Novgorod.
According to the mayor, the project became part of large-scale cooperation between Nizhny Novgorod Oblast and the Republic of Abkhazia. The parties intend to continue working together.
Earlier it was reported that Nizhny Novgorod and Sukhumi, as sister cities, are implementing joint projects in various areas.
