      In the Nizhny Novgorod Region, 375 new bus stops were installed over two years. Work was carried out from 2024 to 2025 on regional roads, with total investments amounting to 270 million rubles.

      According to the Main Directorate of Motor Roads of the region, construction in 2024 was carried out within the national project "Safe and High-Quality Roads", and in 2025 — under the new project "Infrastructure for Life".

      A plan to install new stops for 2026 is currently being developed. It is undergoing approval.

      The agency noted that the region is preparing to implement new GOST requirements being developed at the initiative of the Ministry of Transport of Russia, aimed at improving the safety and convenience of stops.

      In particular, it is planned to approve standard schemes for the placement of shelters and boarding platforms. The rules will also clearly indicate on which sections of roads it is permissible to build stops — taking into account traffic parameters, lighting and visibility.

      This will help avoid situations where stops are placed in unsafe or hard-to-reach locations. The clarified requirements will speed up the design and implementation of road projects.

      "The new GOST standards will eliminate ambiguous interpretations, accelerate project work and ensure a unified quality standard. Given that the region is already actively engaged in modernizing stops, the transition to the new rules will proceed without difficulty," emphasized Leonid Samukhin, director of GKU NO "GUAD".

      He added that creating a safe road environment is a comprehensive task that includes the installation of lighting, traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, road markings and barrier fences. Quality stops, the head of GUAD stressed, are an important element of such a system.

      The draft of the new GOST requirements has already been posted on the official website of RosdorNII, where Nizhny Novgorod residents can read the document and take part in its discussion.

      Recall that five "smart stops" were installed in Nizhny Novgorod in the area of the Avtozavodsky department store.

      It was also reported that two new bus routes will be introduced in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
