Free prosthetic services have been simplified for Nizhny Novgorod residents.

      Getting a free prosthesis in the Nizhny Novgorod region will become easier and faster thanks to a cooperation agreement signed between the regional ministry of health and the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the Moscow Prosthetic and Orthopedic Enterprise.

      The document was signed by the region’s Minister of Health Galina Mikhaylova and the branch manager Sergey Doronin. This was reported on his Telegram channel by a representative of the regional healthcare system, Alexey Nikonov.

      Now residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region who have undergone an amputation will be able to consult specialists right in the hospital. The outreach team includes a trauma orthopedist, a prosthetist and a medical psychologist. The medical-technical commission will issue the conclusion on site or deliver it to the patient’s home.

      Previously, to obtain such a conclusion, citizens had to travel to Nizhny Novgorod in person, even if they lived in remote parts of the region.

      According to the regional ministry of health, more than a thousand lower-limb amputation surgeries are performed each year in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Since the start of 2025, more than a thousand residents of the region have already received free arm and leg prostheses.

      It was previously reported that knee replacement surgeries have begun in Balakhna.
