At the request of NIA "Nizhny Novgorod", Siticard commented on appeals from passengers who encountered double charges when making a free transfer.
Earlier, a woman from Nizhny Novgorod complained that her transport card was charged twice for a trip, although the transfer was made within the allotted time. According to her, this had happened repeatedly and always when traveling on route No. 31.
Under the "Electronic Wallet — 60 minutes with a free transfer" tariff, a passenger can transfer to any type of city transport within an hour without additional payment.
The cause of the double charge, as explained by Siticard's press service, could be a technical error. It occurs if a passenger prematurely removes the card from the terminal before the validation ticket has finished printing. In that situation the card does not record the time of the previous trip, and at the next registration the system treats it as a new trip, charging the fare again.
"The situation was promptly resolved on the day of the erroneous charge immediately after the user contacted Siticard's support service. We recommend users hold the card on the terminal until the validation ticket is printed," the company noted.
It was previously reported that from 1 November the fare on Nizhny Novgorod public transport when paying by card increased to 40 rubles. And from 1 January 2026 the entire city transport system will switch completely to cashless payments.
