The best municipal employees were awarded in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      On November 21 in Nizhny Novgorod a solemn award ceremony was held to honor the winners of the regional competition "Best Municipal Employee of the Nizhny Novgorod Region." The competition was traditionally organized by the Council of Municipalities of the region. In 2025 the event gathered a record number of participants — 72 representatives from 24 municipalities. Following a two-stage selection, 64 municipal employees and municipal teams were awarded the title of winners.

      The ceremony was attended by Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Andrey Gneushev, Chairman of the Council of Municipalities and Head of Arzamas Alexander Shchelokov, as well as Chairman of the Committee of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region on State Power, Local Self-Government and Regulations Vladimir Pakov.

      Congratulating the winners, Andrey Gneushev noted that municipal employees prove every day that their work is not just a job but a genuine service to the people. He recalled that the region has been presenting these awards for the third year in a row. According to him, it is at the local level that specialists interact most closely with the population, know its needs and are the first to come to aid in solving pressing issues. Gneushev stressed that strong municipal teams are the backbone of regional governance, and the awarding of prizes is recognition of their merits and an incentive for further development.

      The "Best Municipal Employee of the Nizhny Novgorod Region" competition has been held since 2023 and is aimed at supporting professional local self-government personnel. In 2025 participants competed in six nominations: construction and architecture; housing and communal services; improvement and ecology; municipal economy and finance; management of municipal property; social policy; as well as legal, organizational and personnel support, including civil defense and emergency situations.

      Alexander Shchelokov noted that the competition has become an important annual tradition and an effective tool for public recognition of the work of municipal specialists. He emphasized that the number of participants grows each year, which indicates the prestige and demand for the competition. He said that the submitted projects are distinguished by their practical orientation and often find application in different districts of the region, improving the quality of life of residents. Shchelokov also reported that the best initiatives of the winners receive the support of the Council of Municipalities and are put forward for participation in the All‑Russian municipal award "Service."

      The winners of the competition were awarded diplomas of the I, II and III degrees of the Council of Municipalities of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, as well as commemorative gifts. The other participants received letters of appreciation for their contribution to the development of municipal service.

      After the award ceremony the winners took part in a strategic session devoted to current issues and prospects for the development of the local self-government system in the region.

      It was previously reported that residents of Nizhny Novgorod could apply for the "Service" award until November 21.
