An exhibition (0+) of masterpieces from the Tsarskoye Selo State Museum-Reserve (Pushkin) has opened at the State Historical Museum in Moscow. The project was carried out with the support of the United Metallurgical Company (OMK).
The exhibition "Treasures of the Imperial Residences. Tsarskoye Selo" will present more than 500 exhibits from the palace’s permanent collection and the museum’s holdings. Among them are an authentic amber casket by the master Turau from the early 18th century, Catherine II’s uniform dress, as well as works in bronze, porcelain, and furniture. Many items are being shown in the capital for the first time.
A special place is occupied by the collection of amber items from the 17th–early 18th centuries: caskets, game boards, chess sets, tric-trac, and personal items. These pieces were created for the Amber Cabinet, which was presented to Peter I and lost during the Great Patriotic War. The amber collection was successfully evacuated and preserved, and part of these rare exhibits is now on display at the State Historical Museum — they are usually not available to the general public.
A significant portion of the exhibition is devoted to the personal belongings of Russian emperors and empresses: costumes, accessories, weapons, objects of everyday and ceremonial use, as well as portrait painting. Visitors will also see gemstone-adorned artisan furniture and collections of porcelain and glass produced at imperial factories or brought from abroad. The exhibition also includes part of the famous Naryshkin jewelry hoard.
At the opening, OMK President Natalya Yeremina emphasized that the company has been supporting the State Historical Museum’s exhibition projects for nine years. According to her, such initiatives help preserve cultural heritage and foster interest in the country’s history and traditions, and she expressed confidence in the success of the new exhibition.
Earlier it was reported that the Nizhny Novgorod region and the Pushkin Museum have strengthened cultural cooperation.
