Deripaska urged banks to stop "whining" and back off from marketplaces.
21 November 2025 14:05 Economy Oleg Deripaska, the well-known Russian businessman, called for maintaining discounts on marketplaces, stressing their importance for ensuring the affordability of goods for broad segments of the population. He also expressed dissatisfaction with banks' complaints about loyalty systems in online commerce, reports 360.ru.
In his address, Deripaska noted that instead of "complaining" about the actions of marketplaces, banks should revise their lending terms and offer more favorable rates on mortgages, leasing, auto loans and other financial products. In his view, such measures could attract more clients and make banking services more appealing to consumers.
He also added that he sees nothing wrong with marketplace banks.
"It's just that part of citizens' deposits, and that is tens of trillions of rubles, will smoothly flow into these two banks (OZON and WB), which will finance the production of their main suppliers, and, of course, consumers. This will, without doubt, be a powerful tool in the fight against inflation," the businessman emphasized.
It was recently reported that five major Russian banks proposed banning the use of bonuses and discounts on marketplaces. The corresponding appeal was sent to the Chairman of the State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin. The banks argued that discounts and bonuses can distort market mechanisms and create unequal conditions for competition.
