      Nizhny Novgorod animal abuser in a greatcoat sent for compulsory psychiatric examination. The Soviet District Court had already made that decision on 16 October 2025, the court press service reports.

      According to investigators, the man tortured and killed animals in his apartment on Nadezhda Suslova Street. According to preliminary data, at least ten dogs and cats died. A criminal case has been opened on a charge of cruelty to multiple animals. The animal abuser was sent to a specialized medical facility. No preventive measures were applied to him until the court's decision.

      Recall that after neighbors complained about a foul odor and the man's strange behavior in spring 2025, the police discovered emaciated animals in the suspect's apartment, as well as the remains of dogs and cats.

      Shortly thereafter, investigators found animal remains in his mother's apartment as well. The woman was a professor in the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure at the Law Faculty of NNGU. The father also worked at the university and, before his dismissal, was head of the Department of Constitutional and Municipal Law. He did not live with the family.
