An exhibition of masterpieces from Tsarskoye Selo opened at the Historical Museum in Moscow.

      The State Historical Museum (GIM) in Moscow has opened the exhibition “Treasures of the Imperial Residences. Tsarskoye Selo,” organized with the support of the United Metallurgical Company (OMK). The display features more than 500 rare items from the collections of the Tsarskoye Selo State Museum-Reserve. Visitors to the museum will be able to see items from the permanent exhibition and the Tsarskoye Selo depositories. Among them are an amber casket by the master Turau from the early 18th century and Catherine II’s uniform dress.

      Special attention has been paid to the collection of amber items from the 17th to the early 18th century: boxes, game boards, chess sets, and household items. These objects were part of the famous Amber Room, gifted to Peter I, which was lost during the Great Patriotic War and recreated between 1979 and 2003. Part of the original collection was successfully evacuated and preserved — it is these rare items that are presented at the exhibition.

      A significant portion of the exhibition consists of personal items of Russian monarchs: from costumes and weapons to everyday household objects. Visitors can also see bespoke furniture adorned with precious stones and metals, collections of porcelain and glass produced at imperial manufactories and brought from Europe. Among the exhibits is part of the famous Naryshkin hoard.

      As OMK president Natalya Yeremina noted, the company has supported GIM projects for the ninth year, considering them an important contribution to the preservation of cultural heritage. She emphasized that such initiatives help foster respect for the country’s history and culture. GIM’s general director Alexey Levykin stressed that thanks to the partnership with OMK it has been possible to implement a number of significant exhibition and educational projects.
